In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Akutson stated, “Majority of people you see today depend on daily income, that’s why if you lock down today, people can no longer survive. Because daily income is what sustains and not monthly income.”

He further explained, “Anybody without daily income, if nothing is entering your purse or your pocket on a daily basis, you’re barely surviving. And any skill can do that.”

Akutson highlighted the importance of education with a skill, saying, “Education goes beyond passing exams and acquiring degrees and certificates, but the skills one possesses. The world is now concerned with skills, not certificates.”

The ERDC Director noted that the centre was established to instill an entrepreneurial spirit in students, teaching them how to create, manage, and multiply money. “We link up with artisans who are experts in skills like tailors and others to train our students,” he added.

Akutson encouraged youths to explore daily income opportunities, saying, “Even if you work, if you close by 5 o’clock, you can spend one or two extra hours doing one or two things that can bring you daily income.” (NAN)
