Her husband, Alao Aka Bashorun is regarded as the most outstanding president of the NBA. He was NBA president 1987-1989. So many notable and prominent lawyers, including human rights lawyer and activist,  Femi Falana SAN, and Abiodun Owonikoko SAN did their pupillage under him. Aka Bashorun used the NBA platform to fight the Ibrahim Babangida led military government, for the rights and freedom of Nigerians.

The late Mrs Alao Aka Bashorun was also a bosom friend of the late Kudirat Abiola, wife of business mogul, and  winner of  the June 12, 1993 presidential election. On account of the friendship, the Aka Bashorun supported and campaigned vigorously for the de-annulment of the election by the Babangida regime.

In the course of the fight, Kudirat Abiola was shot and killed by Sgt Rogers Mshelia, a soldier attached to the security of the then Head of State, late Gen Sani Abacha. The assassination was on the orders of the Chief Security Officer(CSO) to the Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha.

After the death of Kudirat, the Aka Bashoruns were so shocked and saddened that they unofficially withdrew from public glare. Alao Aka Bashorun eventually died on October 1, 2005 at the age of 75. Coincidentally, his beloved wife was also 75 when she died on Wednesday, 15 years, eight days after her husband.

The NBA, Ikeja branch however continued to honour the memory of the late NBA President.
