The Lagos State LP Chairperson, Pastor Dayo Ekong, made this remark in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday while reacting to the ongoing #EndBadGovernance nationwide protest.
According to Ekong, Nigerian youths have the right to protest because it is a way of letting government to know their frustration about the state of the economy.
She, however, said that no gain would be achieved if the protest would become violent and destructive.
“The fact that people can hardly eat is really worrisome. What is happening in the country is not palatable for ordinary Nigerians.
“However, my advice for our youths is to eschew violence because destroying property and lives is not the answer.
“They (youths) can make their voices heard without causing any violence and destruction, ” Ekong said.
She said that any damage caused during the protest would take the nation backward.
The LP boss urged governments across levels to make voices of the people to count in governance.
NAN reports that the protest, which started on Thursday, crippled socio-economic activities across states as motor parks, shops, malls, markets and roads were deserted due to the protest.
The protest, planned to end on Aug. 10, is aimed at drawing the attention of the Federal Government to the hardship faced by citizens.
