Makinde, Fashola to grace arbitration conference

Governor of Oyo State, Oluseyi Makinde and Nigeria’s Minister for Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashiola, SAN are expected to deliver Opening and Keynote Addresses at the Plenary of 2021 Conference of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration (CIArb) Nigeria Branch.

According to a statement signed by Dr Yemi Agbelusi, Chairman Publicity Commitee, the event will hold at Jogor Center, Ibadan, Oyo State Capital from 3rd – 5th November, 2021.The Conference which kicks off with the Young Members Group Conference on November 3, 2021, is an annual assembly of professionals, technocrats, ADR practitioners, members of the public and invited Speakers. It provides unique opportunities for business networking and socializing amongst participants.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Future Perfect: Securing Africa’s Ascent on the Global ADR Stage” and is expected to have a combination of physical and online attendance. Guest speakers, panelists and resource personalities from within and outside Nigeria drawn from across various fields of human endeavors, have been assembled to deliver papers and keynote addresses on the conference’s theme and other related topics.

Some of the insightful topics include: “Nigeria as a Seat of International Arbitration – a Closer Look”, “IP. Data Privacy in Arbitration Proceedings” and Facing Moral and Ethical Dilemma: What would you do?”

An interesting line up of some invited Speakers at the conference include Mrs, Hairat Balogun, OON, (Nigeria) Mr. Tunde Fagbohunlu, SAN (Nigeria) Hon Justice Ayokunle Faji of the Federal High Court, Mr. Kevin Nash, (SIAC), Mr. Edward Luke, (Botswana) Mr. Oluwatobiloba Moody, Anish Wadia, (India), Rukia Baruti, (Secretary-General AfAA), Diamana Diawara (ICC Africa), Mr Isaiah Bozimo (AG Delta State) and a host of other professionals.

Exciting highlights of the third and last day of the conference will be the induction of new members into the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Nigeria Branch and the Gala Nite to round off the 2021 conference.
