Man, 22, Arraigned for Allegedly Stealing Electronics Worth N48m

Asaba, Aug. 29, 2024 (TheGavel) – John Musa, a 22-year-old man, was arraigned at the Asaba Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for allegedly stealing electronics valued at N48 million.

Musa faced charges of theft, to which he pleaded not guilty. Prosecutor Mrs. Blessing Okafor informed the court that the alleged crime occurred on August 2 at No. 18 Summit Road, Asaba.

According to Okafor, Musa is accused of breaking into a store and stealing a 55-inch Itech TV, a 50-inch Itech TV, a 50-inch Hisense TV, a deep freezer, a fridge, two generators, an air conditioner, and other items, all belonging to Mr. Samuel Ejike.

The prosecutor noted that the theft is punishable under Sections 516, 453, and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap C21 Vol 1 Laws of Delta State, 2006.

Magistrate Mrs. Edith Anumodu granted bail to Musa in the sum of N2 million, with two sureties required to provide guarantees of equal value. The sureties must be residents within the court’s jurisdiction and relatives of the accused. They are also required to submit two passport photographs, identity cards, and electricity bills.

The case has been adjourned to September 10 for further mention. (NAN)
