A 50-year-old man, Oduma Chukwuma, on Thursday was docked in a Magistrates’ Court, Kubwa, Abuja, for allegedly stealing a gate.

The police charged the defendant with criminal trespass and theft.

The prosecuting counsel, John Okpa told the court that the complainant, Ikechukwu Okoye, reported the matter at Kubwa Police Station on June 26.

Okpa alleged that the defendant trespassed the complainant’s house at Oduduwa Street, Kubwa, Abuja and stole his gate valued N100,000 on the said date.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 348 and 287 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate Nneaka Lesley admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety, resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

Lesley ordered that the surety must be a respected member of the society and adjourned the matter until July 23 for hearing
