Ibadan, Nigeria(TheGavel) – A 23-year-old man, Dare Alamu, was sentenced to nine months imprisonment by an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Alamu pleaded guilty to a single count of stealing chicks valued at N380,000.
The Court President, Mrs. Oluwabusayo Osho, imposed the sentence without the option of a fine and ordered Alamu to serve his time at the Agodi Correctional facility in Ibadan.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olalekan Adegbite, informed the court that Alamu had committed the thefts on four separate occasions in August and early September at Akufo Farm Settlement, Ologuneru, Ido Road, Ibadan. Despite being previously employed as a security guard at the farm settlement, Alamu was laid off before committing the crimes.
The stolen chicks, totaling 84, belonged to Tolulope Ajiboye. The theft charges against Alamu were brought under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.(NAN)
