Lagos, Oct. 4, 2024 (TheGavel) – A tragic incident in Lagos has led to the detention of a 25-year-old man, Chibunnma Chimelie, who allegedly stabbed his 68-year-old father to death in what appears to be a domestic dispute. The confirmation of this incident was provided by the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, on Friday.
The fatal confrontation occurred on Thursday at approximately 10:00 p.m. in the Isolo area of Lagos. According to Hundeyin, the situation unfolded when the suspect’s brother received an alarming phone call from a neighbor, indicating that a misunderstanding had erupted between Chibunnma and their father, who shared the same residence.
Upon hearing this distressing news, the brother rushed to their father’s home, where he was met with a horrifying scene: his father’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood. The report prompted immediate police intervention, with officers from the Aswani Police Divisional Station dispatched to the location.
“Upon arrival at the scene, the police were able to apprehend the suspect,” Hundeyin reported. Investigating officers meticulously examined the area and recovered a knife stained with blood, found lying close to the victim’s body.
In the aftermath of this violent episode, photographs of the scene were taken for the investigation, and the victim was transported to the General Hospital in Isolo. Unfortunately, medical personnel confirmed that he had already succumbed to his injuries. The deceased’s body has since been placed in the mortuary at the same hospital.
According to Hundeyin, the suspect has confessed to the crime, and police are currently conducting a thorough investigation to uncover all circumstances surrounding this tragic event.(NAN)
