The woman simply called Khadija had followed the police prosecutor from Pen Cinema Police Station, Agege to the court premises where her son, Tesleem(13) was billed to be arraign with his friend, Tomiwa(15) for breaking into the room of a neighbour, Mr Sunny where he allegedly stole the money.

After the theft, Tesleem, according to the prosecutor took the money to his friend, Tomiwa. They were however discovered by the police who after investigations decided to arraign the duo before the magistrate court. According to the police investigation, Tesleem took the keys to the room of Mr Sunny where he kept it for the use of his sister who lives with him. Tesleem allegedly opened the door and stole the money and shared it with his friend, Tomiwa.

The two mothers, realizing their sons were to be arraigned, followed the prosecutor to court. Tomiwa’s mother hired a lawyer to represent her son. However, Tesleem’s mother, Kahdijat decided to plead with the police to allow the parties to settle the matter at the police station rather than the court.

Khadijat, within the corridors of the court wept, rolling on the floor, pleading with the Investigating Police Officer not to list the case for court proceedings.

After much pleading, especially from Tesleem’s mother, the IPO agreed not to list the case. All the parties all took  public transport back to Pen Cinema police station. Mr Sunny later spoke to Gavel International on phone around 7pm Monday, saying that the parties agreed to refund his money by the end of the month of June.
