NBA begins 59th Annual General Conference

"All lawyers has right of attendance-NBA

The Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association starts today in Lagos with the assurance of the President of the association, Mr Paul Usoro SAN that all lawyers are free to attend regardless of registration.

It promises to be the largest gathering of lawyers in Africa as 12,000 practitioners have registered and confirmed participation.

The President of the International Bar Association (IBA), Mr Horacio Bernades Neto is expected to be in attendance and launch a report on bullying and sexual harassment in the legal profession

Also expected to grace the opening ceremony is the Nigerian Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo SAN who is also expected to present as address to his fellow lawyers.

In a release signed by the conference publicity team, NBA said all lawyers has right of attendance.

“It is important that we remind members that by virtue of the NBA Constitution 2015 ALL MEMBERS of the Nigerian Bar Association have the right of attendance and audience at this Annual General Meeting, irrespective of the fact that such member (s) did not register for the ongoing Annual General Conference holding in Lagos;

​For the avoidance of doubt ALL MEMBERS of the Nigerian Bar Association shall be permitted to access the venue of the Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 29/8/19.​

​Lawyers are therefore advised to attend the Annual General Meeting en masse and contribute their opinions on the issues that concern the association as stated in the earlier published Notice of meeting. ​

​In order to get you prepared for a meeting that promises to be engaging, attached herewith is the Annual Report of the Nigerian Bar Association for your perusal.

Also, there will be pervasive internet connectivity at the venue of this paperless meeting, colleagues are therefore advised to come with their devices to the Annual General Meeting.​

​The NBA President and other national officers look forward to receiving from and sharing with you ideas”.
