Lagos, Nigeria, September 17, 2024(TheGavel) – A new Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olanrewaju Ishola, has assumed command of the Lagos State Police Command, taking over from Mr. Adegoke Fayoade. Fayoade, who previously held the position, has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) and has been appointed to head the Zone-2 Command in Lagos.
The handover ceremony took place on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja. Fayoade expressed his gratitude to the officers and men of the Lagos command for their professionalism and dedication. He urged them to continue their excellent work and maintain the high standards of the command.
As the new Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Ishola pledged to improve the security situation in Lagos State. He emphasized his commitment to fairness and firmness in dealing with all law-abiding citizens. Ishola urged residents to cooperate with the police by providing timely information and assured them of adequate protection for their lives and property.
Ishola joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and a Master of Science degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Ibadan. Throughout his career, Ishola has served in various key positions, including Unit Commander and Squadron Commander in the Police Mobile Force, Divisional Police Officer in Edo, Ogun, and Lagos States, Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations at Zone-2 Lagos, and Commissioner of Police at the Port Authority Police-Western Port Lagos.(NAN)
