Nigerian Army Captures Notorious Terrorist Kingpin, Rescues Kidnapped Victims in Plateau

Abuja, Nigeria(TheGavel) – The Nigerian Army has achieved a significant victory in its ongoing battle against terrorism, capturing a wanted terrorist kingpin, Husseini Usman, in Ganawuri village, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. The operation also resulted in the rescue of kidnapped victims.

In a statement released on Friday, September 13, 2024, the army announced that its troops have been conducting aggressive operations against terrorists across the country. These operations have led to the seizure of weapons and critical supplies used by these criminal elements, further tightening the noose around them.

Acting on reliable intelligence, troops stationed in Plateau State on September 11 apprehended Usman, who admitted to orchestrating several deadly attacks in the region. Usman confessed to being responsible for the recent assault on Ganawuri village that claimed four innocent lives. Additionally, he admitted involvement in a local kidnapping syndicate that had abducted two individuals.

In a swift response to another kidnapping attempt in Kyaram village, Kanam Local Government Area, the same troops successfully rescued two victims.

In Borno State, the army launched a deadly ambush on terrorists attempting to transit from Sambisa Forest to the Mandara Mountains in Gwoza Local Government Area. An intense shootout ensued, resulting in the elimination of two terrorists.

In Kaduna State, army troops stormed a terrorist hideout in Gobarawa Forest in Birnin Gwari area, forcing the criminals to flee in disarray. The troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, 16 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, and five motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has commended the troops for their unwavering commitment and urged them to continue their offensive operations to eliminate terrorists and criminal elements from their enclaves. (NAN)
