Kano State, Sept. 27, 2024(TheGavel) – Mr. Anas Danmaliki, the chairmanship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area in Kano State, has announced plans to introduce all-year-round farming in the region if elected. Speaking in Dawakin Tofa on Friday, Danmaliki emphasized that this initiative will significantly boost food production while creating job opportunities for the local youth.

The upcoming local government election, set for October 26, 2024, has brought attention to Danmaliki’s comprehensive strategy for transforming agriculture in the area. He noted that Dawakin Tofa’s vast expanse of arable land has the potential to produce a wide range of crops for both local and international markets. Danmaliki said his administration would support farmers by providing modern farming implements at subsidized rates, ensuring that agriculture becomes a more viable and profitable venture.

“With modern farming implements at subsidized rates for farmers, and by leveraging the area’s vast land, Dawakin Tofa could generate a variety of farm produce for both local and international markets,” Danmaliki said. He added that making farming more attractive would help curb rural-to-urban migration, as residents would no longer need to seek better opportunities in the cities.

Danmaliki outlined his vision for agricultural reform, which includes making fertilizers and farming tools readily available at the ward level. He stressed that his focus on agriculture would be complemented by efforts to improve education and healthcare in the local government area.

Beyond agriculture, Danmaliki unveiled plans to renovate and upgrade rural health centers across the 11 wards in Dawakin Tofa. He pledged to equip these centers with modern healthcare facilities and retrain health workers to meet the community’s medical needs. “We will renovate and equip rural health centers across the 11 wards with modern healthcare facilities to address the healthcare needs of our people,” Danmaliki said.

Education is also a key component of Danmaliki’s agenda. He vowed to end the practice of students attending classes under trees or on bare floors by ensuring that adequate learning materials and infrastructure are provided. He also promised to offer soft loans to local residents to help boost small businesses and reduce poverty.

“We will upgrade the education sector by providing essential learning materials and eliminating the era of pupils receiving lessons under trees and on bare floors,” Danmaliki added. His plans include empowering small business owners with financial support to stimulate economic growth in the area. (NAN)
