His death comes weeks after the passing of another prominent Nollywood actor, Francis Duru, in Abuja.
The late actor, who featured in more than 100 Nollywood productions, was celebrated for his remarkable performances, particularly his portrayal of traditional rulers, elderly statesmen and other prominent characters.
His death was announced by the management of Veterans All Stars International Football Club, Enugu, where he served as patron.
In a condolence statement signed by Charles Okonkwo on behalf of the club’s management, Ikpechukwu was described as a respected figure who made significant contributions to both the sporting and entertainment communities.
The statement disclosed that the actor had a longstanding passion for football and was a talented right-winger during his younger years before choosing acting as his career path.
He also worked as a business office manager at the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL) before retiring from corporate service and venturing fully into the entertainment industry.
According to the club, Ikpechukwu remained actively connected to football throughout his acting career, maintaining close relationships with former international footballers, veterans and young talents.
The statement further revealed that the actor was expected to attend a training session organised by the club on Saturday, 10 October 2026, but fell ill a day before the scheduled event.
Describing his death as a painful loss, the club said his warmth, wisdom, generosity and commitment to veterans’ football would be greatly missed.
The management also extended its condolences to his immediate family, Nollywood colleagues and members of the football community.
Funeral arrangements, according to the statement, will be announced by the family in due course.
