“Following extensive consultations with respected leaders in Osun State, critical stakeholders, and the full structure of our great party – the All Progressives Congress (APC)- at both Ward, and local government levels, I hereby formally declare my intention to contest for the office of the governor of Osun State in the 2026 gubernatorial elections”, with these words, Senator Iyiola Omisore, a former deputy governor, and former General Secretary of the party has declared his intention to run for the number one seat in Osun State.
Omisore tagged the theme of his campaign as “Rescue Mission 2026: Fix the broken and Restore our dreams”.
In a letter addressed to the state chairman of the party, Hon Tajudeen Lawal Olaniyi, Omisore said that his decision is driven by a profound commitment to restore integrity in governance. “In recent years, Osun State has witnessed a near total reversal of hard earned gains across key sectors. As a result, we now lag behind in critical indices of social development, human capital and economic progress”, he stated.
Omisore who was once a deputy governor of the state under Chief Bisi Akande, maintained that the regression of the state is regrettable, taken into consideration that under the presidency of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, many states are recording enviable strides and the ruling party continues to restore hope to Nigerians home and abroad.
“My aspiration is not merely to win an election, but to deliver an inclusive rescue mission, from the first to the last mile in Osun State. With the support of our party and the good people of Osun, I am well positioned to offer purposeful leadership that builds resilience, uplifts lives, and strengthens the legacy of APC in our state. Together we shall fix the broken and and restore our dreams”, he concluded.
