In an ideal democracy, the candidate whose values, political platform and skills align best with most voters’ preferences wins the election. However, in reality, democracy can not succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely.
The Ondo State governorship election is getting closer by days, political actors are warming up, the electorates are expectant and the atmosphere is getting cloudier. One thing is certain, great things happen when topmost leadership is goaded and supported from below.
Dr. Soji Ehinlanwo is a registered brand in Ondo politics. The family name is prominent in Ondo and very well regarded. The man himself possesses such intimidating credentials, experience and is very well exposed .His candidature matters as much as the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the State. Many in Ondo state see him as that breath of fresh air that Ondo state needs to invigorate governance and make Ondo state the place of big achievements and glory. The decision to offer his service is to radically impact the mode and pace of governance in such ways that should significantly enhance social, economic, infrastructure and political developments for the good people of the Sunshine State.
In the words of Andrew Carnegie, “No man will make a great leader who wants to do it all himself, or to get all the credit for doing it,” this tenet call the aspiration of Dr. Ehinlanwo to bear. He strongly believes in the support and commitment from party faithfuls who are saddled with the responsibility of electing a credible candidate for the governorship contest. The All Progressives Congress, APC, along with other political parties will hold their primaries between 6th – 27th April 2024 in line with Section 178 (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Dr. Ehinlanwo, a frontrunner in the primary, is a candidate to beat.
At the last count, the number of candidates jostling for the position grew to 18, under the flagship of APC. Dr Ehinlanwo is a breath of fresh air in the APC primary. With his rich and varied experience in bringing about significant and remarkable change in some of the most reputable global public and private sector organizations, as well as a strong and deep depth in respect of our domestic challenges and issues, there is already a clear view that he stands well above all the other aspirants who have shown interest in the Alagbaka seat. It is this wealth of experience that Ehinlanwo wants to bring to bear if elected the Executive Governor of the State.
To the delegates in the APC primary, Ehinlanwo has affirmed that he is ready to serve the people with a high sense of responsibility, openness and accountability.
He hinted, “I am coming to do things differently. That is why the resolve of Ondo electorate to reject average performance and bring in a true problem solver greatly excites me. I am bringing my services to improve the lives of our people in ways that have never been seen before. I am fully committed to ensuring that the Sunshine State retake it’s rightful place in the South West region.
“Your vote for me as the APC aspirant at the governorship primary, will be reciprocated with strong advocacy for a better and brighter future for every Indigene of the State.
“Ondo APC Delegates, the time has come for us to make a choice for the growth and progress of our dear State. The time has come for us to work collaboratively to impact all our communities very positively. From Akure, Okitipupa, Ondo, Ikare, Owo, Ode-Aye, Igbotako, Ilutitun, Ile-Oluji, Ore, Ifon, Igbara-Oke, Irele, Owena, Idanre, Oka, Okitipupa,Irele, Igbekebo, Igbokoda, Isua, Bolorunduro, Igbekebo, Iju, Ita-Ogbolu, Oke-Igbo, Ido-Ani, Ikun, Ilara, Ijare to Oke-Agbe and beyond, the time has come for us to choose the best for the APC and our dear Ondo state in order to further effectively drive the Renewed Hope Agenda for the betterment of all and sundry.” Ehinlanwo urged.
There appears to be a promising indication that the willingness and disposition of delegates in this upcoming governorship primary election in Ondo State is to elect the one who is most accessible, exposed, experienced and knowledgeable. He should be someone who is a visionary and potentially has the capacity to significantly transform the lives of the people for the better. Dr Soji Ehinlanwo is perceived as the one who best fits the bill. The eagerness for rapid and extensive progress has become very urgent which has made it imperative to vote Dr. Soji Ehinlanwo (DSE), as the candidate of APC in November 16th, 2024 governorship election – an aspirant who represents that breath of fresh air that the APC and the people of Ondo yearn for , Indeed, Ondo ti Soji!
