Kaduna, September 23, 2024 (TheGavel) – The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully apprehended two individuals suspected of vandalizing air conditioners (ACs) in government properties across the state.
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued in Kaduna on Monday. According to Hassan, the suspects were caught red-handed while attempting to vandalize AC units at the Kaduna State High Court.
The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Yusuf and Salim Sani, employed a deceptive tactic to gain access to the court complex. They posed as technicians sent from the Chief Judge’s office to repair the ACs in the court chambers and offices. However, their true intentions were revealed when it was discovered that they had instead vandalized and removed the AC units.
Similar incidents were reported at the Barnawa court complex and the Upper Shari’a Court in Tudun Wada, Kaduna, indicating a pattern of criminal activity.
Following a thorough investigation, the police apprehended Salim Sani, who confessed to his involvement in the vandalism. This led to the discovery of eight 1.5 horsepower split AC units at the shop of Moses Adekunle, another suspect in the case.
All eight AC units were confirmed to have been removed from the Ibrahim Taiwo Road court complex. The police are currently conducting further investigations and will charge all suspects connected to the crimes in court upon completion of the process.(NAN)
