Maiduguri, Sept. 16, 2024 (TheGavel) – President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has arrived in Maiduguri, Borno State, to condole with the government and people of the state over the devastating Alau Dam flood disaster.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), President Tinubu arrived in Maiduguri around 3:15 pm and was received by Governor Babagana Zulum. During his visit, the President is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Umar-Garbai El-Kaneni. He will then proceed to one of the displacement camps to address the thousands of persons affected by the flood.
The Monday flood, which submerged almost half of Maiduguri city, resulted in loss of lives and properties. In response, the Borno State Government has opened 36 camps to cater to the displaced persons.
