The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal begin its sitting today in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, as Action Alliance(AA), a party withdrew its petition against the President-elect, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
At the tribunal, Nigerian foremost lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN will be leading 49 other lawyers to defend the election of Tinubu.
At the sitting today, the Presiding Justice, Haruna Tsammani urged all parties to keep to time so as to enable the tribunal to finish with all cases within the timeframe. He assured the parties of justice in the tribunal’s decisions.
The five man panel of justices of the Court of Appeal that constitute the tribunal are Justice Tsammani; Justice Stephen Adah, Justice Misitura Bolaji-Yusuf, Justice Boloukuoromo Ugoh, and Justice Abba Mohammed.
The withdrawal of the AA petition may not be unconnected with the fact that it was a pre- election petition. However, no reason was given for the withdrawal.
