Olusegun Awolowo the Grandson of the late Sage Chief Obafemi Awolowo is dead. Olusegun , a lawyer who served as Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council for two consecutive terms, and was the son of the first son of the late Sage, died on Thursday November 20. He was 62 .

“With extremely heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather- Olusegun Awolowo.
“He was the world’s most phenomenal husband, father and grandfather — steady, wise, endlessly loving, and the constant anchor of our family. A painfully loyal servant to Nigeria, he dedicated his life to the service of his country with vision, integrity, passion, and unwavering commitment. He was a true family man, a great friend, a wonderful servant of God, and a deeply beautiful human being.

And he lived every day with purpose, humility, and a generous spirit that touched everyone who knew him.

The Awolowo Family
Awolowo was born on September 27,1963, his father (Segun Awolowo Sr.) died in 1963 at age 25 by car accident at the old Ibadan-Lagos road. He was born two months after his father’s death, he attended primary school in custody of his aunt, Mrs Tola Oyediran (nee Awolowo) and her husband Prof. Kayode Oyediran. Before then, he lived with his mother alongside his other siblings.
Awolowo started his education at the Mayhill Convent School alongside Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo SAN all in the custody of Prof and Mrs Oyediran. From there, he proceeded to Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos State for his secondary school education and completed his secondary school education at Government College, Ibadan. On completion of his secondary school education, he proceeded to the Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University), Ago Iwoye and graduated with a LLB degree. He was called to the bar in 1989.
