Damaturu, Yobe State (TheGavel) – Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents unleashed terror on Mafa village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe, looting and setting ablaze shops and houses.
According to DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, Yobe Police Command Spokesman, “We are yet to ascertain the number of lives lost in the incident, which occurred at about 4 p.m. on Sunday in the remote village.”
The attack was reported to the Tarmuwa Divisional Police Station by Babagana Goni and Bako Ibrahim, residents of Mafa. Abdulkarim revealed that “Suspected Boko Haram terrorists armed with rifles and RPG’s attacked Mafa ward on more than 50 motorcycles and set ablaze many shops and houses.”
The spokesman added, “The terrorists also killed many people, but we are yet to ascertain the actual number of casualties.” The gunmen also distributed fliers with Arabic inscriptions during the attack.
This incident follows a recent attack on a private school in neighboring Geidam, where three students were killed and one injured on Friday. (NAN)
