The Federal High Court, Abuja on Thursday, declared Ali Sani as the authentic Candidate of the All Progressive Congress candidate for the Taraba North senatorial district in the 2023 general elections.
While delivering his judgment, Justice Donatus Okoronwo, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Senator Sanni Abubakar and issued a fresh one to Ali SannI, the authentic winner of the may 28th primary election who won the APC primary of the senatorial district
The judgment was in a suit filed by Alhaji Sanni, where he challenged the substitution of his name with that of the incumbent Senator Sanni Abubakar without his consent.
“I hereby resolve the relief sought in favour of the plaintiff” Justice Okoronwo held.
“The primary in which Sani Abubakar claimed he emerged the winner was unauthorized and “not monitored by electoral panels set up by APC national working committee.
Reacting after the verdict however, one of the defendants in the suit Aminu Abdul Liman who lost in the suit said he needs to study the judgment with his legal team and chart a way forward.
He nevertheless appealed to his supporters to remain calm and eschew violence, saying justice will definitely take its course.
