Jos, September 23, 2024 (NAN) – A Jos Area Court has sentenced a teenager, Hassan Faruk, to six months imprisonment for stealing a Nokia phone valued at N120,000.
The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, imposed the sentence after Faruk, an 18-year-old mechanic, pleaded guilty to the charge against him and requested leniency. As an alternative, the court offered the convict the option of paying a fine of N50,000.
Earlier in the proceedings, the Prosecutor, Inspector Ibrahim Gokwat, informed the court that the case was reported to the Angwan Rogo Police Station on May 15th by the complainant, Mr. Umar Isa. According to Gokwat, the convict had trespassed into the complainant’s room and stolen his Nokia phone, valued at N120,000.
During the police investigation, Faruk confessed to the crime, and the stolen phone was recovered from his possession. The prosecutor stated that the offense violated the provisions of the Plateau State Penal Code law.(NAN)
