In a most brazen manner, some thieves on Monday morning entered the premises of Ile-Ife High Court and stole two motorcycles, forcing the judge to suspend Court proceedings and ordered the gate to the court premises closed.

Hon. Justice B.A.A. Akande of High Court 2 was already sitting when security personnel reported the theft to him. One of the stolen bikes belonged to a police officer, while the other was owned by a civilian witness. Both had come to the court to testify.

Upon receiving the report, the judge immediately suspended all proceedings and ordered everyone to vacate the courtroom. Both victims were called to confirm the theft, and they verified that their motorcycles were indeed missing from where they had parked them.

In response to the security breach, court authorities placed the entire facility under temporary lockdown. No vehicles were permitted to enter or leave the premises while security personnel conducted their initial investigation.

The lockdown remained in effect for a better part of the day, while court officials worked alongside security agencies to determine how the theft occurred within the supposedly secure court compound. The incident has raised questions about security protocols at the judicial facility.

No arrests was made, and authorities did not release details about potential suspects or how the perpetrators managed to remove the motorcycles from the court grounds without detection.
