Ibadan, September 17, 2024(TheGavel) – Three students from Iseyin College of Health Science and Technology have been remanded in custody by an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan. Shodimu Halima (18), Agbedun Zainab (23), and Olaleye Oladunni (23) are facing charges of conspiracy and murder.
The Magistrate, Mr. M. Mudashiru, ordered their remand at the Agodi Correctional Centre, Ibadan, pending the issuance of legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP). The case has been adjourned until December 30th for mention.
According to the prosecution, led by Inspector Femi Oluwadare, the defendants allegedly conspired with others to cause the death of their colleague, Eniola Ismail (16). On July 29th, the defendants engaged in a physical altercation with the deceased at the school.
After the incident, Ismail returned home, complaining of body pains. Unfortunately, she later passed away. The prosecution argued that the defendants’ actions violated Sections 316, 319, and 324 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
The case has sparked concerns about safety and well-being within educational institutions. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing conflicts peacefully and seeking assistance when necessary.(NAN)
