Human rights lawyer, and former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Dr Olisa Agbakoba SAN on Tuesday said that the inauguration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu must go on on May 29, 2023 regardless of the litigations over the election before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
In a release, Dr Agbakoba said that there is no constitutional process to delay the May 29, 2023 inauguration, insisting that Nigerians must obey the rule of constitutionalism.
Below is Agbakoba’s statement:
INAUGURATION OF TINUBU ON MAY 29 IS BOUND TO HAPPEN UNDER CONSTITUTIONAL PROCESS
It is important to state that the inauguration of Mr Bola Tinubu on 29 May 2023 is bound to happen under our constitutional process. While the election tribunal deals with the petitions there is no constitutional process to delay the inauguration on 29 May.
We need to obey the rule of constitutionalism.
Dr Olisa Agbakoba SAN
