Damilola Olayemi, widow of late Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings, has reportedly agreed to bury her husband at his family home following a disagreement with his family over his final resting place.

The development comes amid public controversy surrounding the singer’s burial arrangements, with his family and widow reportedly holding different views on where he should be laid to rest.

Recall that the singer’s family had, in a viral online interview, alleged that Olayemi rejected the proposal to bury the 32-year-old musician at their family residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.

She was reportedly said to have preferred that her husband be buried in a cemetery.

However, Toluwanisings’ father opposed the suggestion, insisting that his son’s remains should be taken to his hometown and buried close to his late mother if he could not be laid to rest at the family home in Ibadan.

The disagreement sparked widespread reactions on social media, with some users questioning the widow’s position and calling for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s sudden death.

However, speaking in an Instagram video on Sunday, the singer’s close associate and colleague, Lanre Alewilese, disclosed that the disagreement had been resolved, with the widow agreeing to the family’s preferred burial arrangement.

Describing the dispute between Olayemi and her father-in-law as a misunderstanding, Alewilese appealed to Nigerians to stop attacking the widow and allow the family to mourn in peace.

He said, “Please, for God’s sake, let peace reign. Damilola is very young for what she’s currently going through. I’m very close to the deceased; his wife is accommodating. All his band members can attest to this.

“The disagreement between Toluwanisings’ father and his widow has been resolved. What happened was just a misunderstanding. The duo have agreed to bury Toluwanisings at his house.

“Please, Nigerians, let there be peace. If you truly love the singer, let his wife have peace now that his burial place has been resolved.”
