Troops Neutralize 8 Bandits in Kaduna
Kaduna, Aug. 29, 2024 (TheGavel) – The Kaduna State Government (KDSG) reported that troops have neutralized eight bandits in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
In a statement on Thursday, Overseeing Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the operation. According to Aruwan, troops initiated a fighting patrol to the Kampanin Doka area, where they encountered and engaged bandits, neutralizing seven of them.
During a search of the area, the troops recovered three AK-47 rifles, eight magazines (four loaded with a total of 120 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition), and a magazine carrier. Other items recovered included six motorcycles, three mobile phones, two Baofeng radios, and three pairs of civilian clothes.
Aruwan noted that during the concluding phase of the patrol, troops made further contact with bandits in the Gayam area, neutralizing one bandit. It is suspected that others escaped with gunshot wounds.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State expressed gratitude to the security forces for their efforts and commended the troops, led by Maj-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso, General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army/Commander Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP), for their significant achievement.
