Insp Adejare alleged that the defendant, Tunde, unlawfully entered the residence of Afolayan Ifatobi and stole an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle valued at N500, 000 belonging to the complainant. He also alleged that the second defendant, Kebbi, dishonestly and unlawfully received the stolen Bajaj motorcycle from Tunde, which he knew to be stolen.

“The offences contravened Sections 322(b), 302(9) and 343 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021,” Insp Adejare said.

The prosecutor asked the court for adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses. The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.

Counsel to the defendants, Mr Adeyinka Opaleke, urged the court to grant them bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail. “We promise to provide reliable sureties and ensure that the defendants attend court hearings,” Mr Opaleke said.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Bankole Oluwasanmi, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N80, 000 with one surety each in like sum. He adjourned the case until October 11, for hearing. (NAN)
