Rail activities along the Lagos-Ibadan route on Saturday grounded to a halt after vandals damaged the railway.

Some passengers on the train, which departed Ibadan around 8:30 am, expressed shock when the train was forced to a stop somewhere before Funmilayo Ransom Kuti at Papalanto area due to the removal of some railway track components.

The forced stop caused panic but was abated by the presence of armed security agents onboard who stood watch while the technicians fixed the damaged track.

However, the train continued on its way after about 20 minutes when the track was fixed.
