Babatunde Omidina, alias Baba Suwe, a comedian and veteran actor is dead. He died on Monday at the age of 67.

Baba Suwe’s death was announced by one of his daughters, Adesola Omidina.

Baba Suwe became popular for his comical roles in Yoruba drama ever before the advent of Nollywood films.

In 2011, he was subjected to detention by the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for allegedly ingesting cocaine. Despite being detained for three weeks to excrete the substances, nothing was found on him.

He suffered poor health in 2018, making several Nigerians including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to donate funds for his medical treatment abroad.
