Acknowledges “technical bugs”, apologizes for the error.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Thursday recalled the just released results of its 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations(WASSCE), saying it  discovered “technical bugs” in some of the results. The council therefore stopped access to the result checker portal for 24 hours for correction and also apologized to the students.

The WASSCE  was released on Aug. 4.

In a press release signed by its Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, WAEC said its internal post results release procedure showed some technical bugs in some results. “As a part of efforts to curb examination malpractice, the council embarked on an innovation (paper serialisation),” it said.

WAEC said that the innovation was in line with best practices in assessment. “The paper serialisation was carried out in Mathematics, English Language, Biology and Economics. However, internal post results release procedure showed some technical bugs in the results.”

It said that it decided to review and correct the technical glitches that led to the situation.

“As a result access to WASSCE for School Candidates 2025 has been denied on the results checker portal.”

The council apologised to the affected candidates and the general public,  and advised the candidates to check for their results again in the next 24 hours when the matter would have been resolved.
