“You are a dangerous offender and you must be ashamed”, Justice Rahmon Oshode of Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Division of Lagos State High Court, Ikeja told Dr Femi Olaleye of Optical Cancer Care Foundation on Tuesday. The judge thereafter sentenced the medical doctor to life imprisonment for defiling his wife’s niece.
The court dismissed Dr Olaleye’s no case submission after acknowledging that the prosecution had proved the case of defilement against him. “You are as guilty as charged”, said the court.
The Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions(DPP) of the State Ministry of Justice had filed a two count charge of unlawful sexual intercourse and sexual assault by penetration of mouth with his penis against Olaleye, offences contravened Sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Convicting the doctor, Justice Oshodi held that the prosecution proved the two counts of defilement and sexual assault by penetration against Olaleye beyond reasonable doubt. He said that the evidence adduced before the court, against the defendant was compelling, adding that the confessional statement of the defendant which he made before his lawyer, Mr Olalekan Buruji and the DPO of Anthony Police Station that he regretted his act proved that he committed the offense.
The judge held that the oral statement which the defendant denied, had the NBA seal of Buruji on it and his denial did not hold water.
“You are a dangerous offender and you must be ashamed,” he said.
