Security officials repel terrorist attack on Abuja-Kaduna passenger train

“The Army are now with us,” one of the passengers on board the train posted on his Facebook profile.

The bomb planted on the rail track by the terrorists, eye witness said demobilized the train after it hit the engine.

The eye witness added that the terrorists shot sporadically in the air for hours after the train had stopped. The source added that the bandits tried getting access into the train before they were repelled by the Army.

The terrorists attacked the train at a point between Katari and Rijana villages.

One of the passengers, who confirmed the incident in a telephone call, said the attackers have surrounded the train, shooting sporadically.

“All the passengers are currently lying on the floor of the train. The bandits are shooting sporadically. We are in serious danger,” said one of the panic-stricken passengers.

A combined team of the Nigerian Army, DSS, and other arms of the security forces were reported to have swiftly responded to the distress messages of the passengers on board and were able to repel the attack. All passengers on board were saved.
