Agbado-Oke Odo Local Development Council(LCDA) in Lagos State is billed to get a General Hospital soon, according to Hon. Lukmon Orelope, the member representing Alimosho Constituency 01 at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Orelope disclosed this at a stakeholder’s meeting between constituents and their elected representatives both at the state and federal levels of government organized by the Community Development Committee (CDC) of the Agbado-Oke Odo Local Development Council on Saturday April 5, 2025, at the Ajasa Community Town Hall where the elected members gave account of their work in the last two years.
The meeting brought together leaders from various community development associations across the LCDA as well as government functionaries to discuss developmental challenges facing the the area.
The member representing Alimosho Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba, the member, representing Alimosho Constituency 01 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Lukmon Orelope, the Chairman, Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, David Famuyiwa, leader of the Agbado Oke-Odo Legislative house, Hon. Tunji Ogunyemi, CDC Chairman, Earnest Kasumu, APC party chairman, Hon. Mukaila and other dignitaries were in attendance.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the constituents to present their developmental challenges to both representatives.
Agbado Oke Odo Local Council Development Area is one of the development areas formed out of Alimosho Local government by the President Bola Tinubu while he was the Governor of Lagos State.
It is the largest in terms of land mass and population in Alimosho, and this situation comes with its attendant challenges ranging from environmental, health, security to infrastructure deficit.
The participants appealed to the representatives to help address some of these challenges.
Both lawmakers assured the people of their commitment towards tackling the challenges and attracting more dividends of democracy to the areas.
The CDC Chairman, Ernest Kasumu, said the committee would collate all the concerns raised at the meeting and forward them to the constituency offices of the two lawmakers and ways to tackle them.
This, he said, would ensure proper monitoring and tracking of the issues as they are being tackled by the people’s representatives.
Giving his stewardship account, Ho. Ayuba, who is the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Interior, said aside sponsoring bills and motions in the house of representatives, he had facilitated some developmental programmes and projects to the constituency in the last two years.
These include; construction of three blocks of classroom at Ilapo Primary School, distribution of fertilizers to farmers, fish farming training and empowerment, erection of streetlights among others.
For this year, Hon. Ayuba promised that a lot of life-changing programmes and initiatives are in the pipeline for the According to him, three roads have been selected for rehabilitation in Abesan and Shagari Estates.
Other programmes include tricycle empowerment, entrepreneurship support for small scale businesses, establishment of ICT centre, food palliative for the vulnerable, empowerment for the physically-challenged, empowerment for market women and artisans, and provision of educational materials for schools.
He used the occasion to canvass support for president Tinubu government’s developmental initiatives and policies.
Ayuba said the Tinubu government is currently implementing policies and programmes, as well as executing legacy infrastructural projects that are capable of turning around the fortunes of the country.
“We just need to continue supporting and praying for our president to be able to see through these all these initiatives. Take for instance the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, when completed, will reduce travelling time from Lagos to Calabar as people won’t have cause to use the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway when traveling to any of the coastal states that will be linked by the Highway.”
On his part, the member, representing Alimosho Constituency 01 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Lukmon Orelope, informed the gathering that a General Hospital is already being proposed to be sited in Agbado Oke-Odo.
The project, according to him, is an intervention project from the federal government through the office of the Special Adviser to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
