The decaying corpses of two students of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, were on Sunday evening, found dead at a private hostel in the school.
Room One of William’s Lodge, where the corpses were found, was forced open after a stench was oozing out of it.
A male and female student were found dead in the room with their corpses decaying, indicating they might have died some days ago.
The parents of Adaeze, the dead female student, were said to have reported to the police after calling her phone line for days without a response.
The state police command said there were no marks of violence on the bodies. It said they likely died from inhaling carbon monoxide from a generator found in a closed place facing the room.
The command vowed that an autopsy will be conducted and the cause of death ascertained.
