TheGavel: At least 33 people were killed in a series of terrorist attacks across south-western Pakistan, targeting police officers, local residents, and passengers, officials reported on Monday.

The attacks occurred in multiple regions and involved assaults on railway tracks, a gas pipeline, and a police station. Shahid Rind, a spokesman for the provincial government, detailed that 23 people were killed early in the morning when armed militants intercepted trucks and buses, identifying and killing passengers from Punjab province. These attacks took place in Musakhail, where militants blocked the highway and set vehicles ablaze.

In Kalat district, an additional 10 individuals, including five policemen and five civilians, lost their lives. Ihsanullah Khan from the local police confirmed that nine others were injured in a firefight with terrorists who attacked a police station.

The militants also sabotaged a railway track in Bolan and damaged a gas pipeline in Dera Bugti.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a banned separatist group, has claimed responsibility for these attacks. Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest and most volatile province, is plagued by violence from Islamist militants, sectarian groups, and nationalist rebels. Attacks targeting workers from other provinces, particularly those involved in projects funded by China’s $62 billion investment plan, are frequent, as many workers from Punjab and other regions seek employment on Chinese-led projects in Balochistan.
